Legrand's frugal innovation initiative takes shape in the development of product ranges that satisfy basic needs. It consists of re-designing certain offers by focusing on the basics, and modifying the products in accordance with the main needs of their users.
The idea is to innovate and to do more with less to satisfy the expectations of users who are not yet consumers. This is for reasons of cost as well as the fact that products do not suit their needs.
Legrand's frugal innovation initiative is evident in the design, development and marketing of wiring device (sockets, switches) and circuit breaker ranges suitable for fitting buildings sustainably and safely, at an affordable price for the many.
In Brazil, for example, the Zuli range was designed for small residential projects, particularly as part of the Minha Casa Minha Vida programme, which aims to remedy the housing shortage.
Another example comes from China, with the Yi Pin and K2 ranges, designed to equip new buildings in the Social Housing Project.
There is yet another example in India, with the Indo Asian subsidiary and its Glint range of wiring devices for residential projects. These products satisfy the budgetary constraints specific to this type of application.
