Legrand signs the charter of ten commitments for responsible purchasing

At the start of 2010, Legrand, together with 17 other major French private-sector companies, signed a national charter on best practices in business relations between prime manufacturers and small to medium-sized contracting companies. Entitled "10 commitments for responsible purchasing", this charter is intended to embody the undertaking by its signatories to comply with a set of best practices in purchasing matters. These include limiting the risk of mutual dependency between prime contractors and sub-contractors, assessing the total cost of purchasing, taking on board the environmental dimension, acknowledging local corporate responsibility and ensuring global supervision of the client-supplier relationship by purchasers.
Worldwide, Legrand encourages its strategic suppliers to sign up to the 10 principles of the United ations Global Compact, of which Legrand has been a member since 2006. At the end of 2009, 57% of Legrand's purchasing from strategic suppliers was placed with suppliers who endorse these 10 principles.
