11.19.2019Legrand ranks 5th in the EcoAct Climate Reporting Performance ranking of CAC 40 companies
Each year since 2011, EcoAct* has established a ranking of climate reporting performance among component stock companies of stock market indices including France’s CAC 40, the FTSE 100 in the UK, the Spanish IBEX 35 and the DOW 30 in the US.
Companies are graded according to publicly disclosed information easily accessible to third parties, classified according to a set of 61 criteria covering four main areas:
- Measurement and reporting;
- Strategy and governance;
- Targets and reduction;
- Engagement and innovation.
Legrand has long been committed to taking action to limit the environmental impact of its activities. After signing the “Climate Manifesto” and joining the “Global Alliance for Energy Productivity”, Legrand in 2017 reasserted its long-standing determination to combat climate change by signing the “French Business Climate Pledge”.
In 2018, the targets set by Legrand for reduction in greenhouse gas emissions to restrict global warming to 2°C in the framework of the Paris climate agreement were approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
Legrand thereby undertakes to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions directly related to its energy consumption by 30% by 2030 (compared to 2016) and by 75% by 2050. Concerning its indirect emissions, Legrand intends to encourage its suppliers of raw materials and transportation services to measure their greenhouse gas emissions and to adopt reduction targets.
*EcoAct is an international consulting and project development company that supports companies, organizations, institutions and territories in order to offer them the most efficient and complete range of solutions to effectively meet the challenges of climate change.
